About Us

I'm Claire, I'm in my mid-twenties, and have always loved words. I have been bilingual since about the age of three, and am often conscious that this makes me different from the people around me ; it brings its problems but is also an amazing opportunity to observe the subtle differences between cultures and therefore between languages.

I have lived in London (now my home), Brussels, Suffolk, Guernsey, Cambridge and Spain (near Valencia), so I also consider myself multi-cultural, which is a huge advantage in understanding that translation is much more than just the transposition of one word into an "equivalent" word in a different language.

I graduated from Cambridge University in 2001 with a good degree in Spanish and French. I was at King's College, which I loved, and where I met many fantastic people who are now my best friends. While I was there, I enjoyed going along to services in chapel and began to learn more about classical music through the easy accessibility to concerts that there is in Cambridge, and through my friendships with people such as the choral scholars of King's. I would love to be able to combine my interest in languages with this, and translate music-related material.

My B.A. Degree course included intensive training in translation in many of its forms, though focussing mainly on its literary and sometimes journalistic aspects. Aside from this, I have professional translating experience in areas as diverse as religion and computer manuals.
